What is World Hydrography Day?
Celebrated on 21 June, World Hydrography Day is designed to raise awareness about hydrography and how it plays a role in improved knowledge of the seas and ocean.
World Hydrography Day was launched by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and first celebrated in 2006. The date marks the anniversary of the founding of the IHO in 1921.
The theme this year is “Hydrographic Information – Enhancing Safety, Efficiency and Sustainability in Marine Activities”.
