The Hydrographic Society UK & Ireland (THS:UKI) is pleased to welcome the University of Southampton, School of Ocean and Earth Science, as a Corporate Member of the Society. This collaboration comes as part of THS:UKI’s 2025 initiative offering free Corporate membership to educational establishments, with the aim of engaging students in the science and profession of surveying.
This initiative reflects THS:UKI’s objective to raise awareness of hydrography and related marine geosciences, inspire the next generation of professionals, and build stronger connections between academia and industry.
“The University of Southampton has a long-standing reputation for excellence in ocean and earth science, and we are delighted to have them join the Society through this initiative,” said Becky Conway, CEO of THS:UKI. “By offering educational institutions free Corporate membership, we are investing in the future of hydrography, supporting student engagement, and helping foster the next generation of surveyors.”
Through their membership, The School of Ocean and Earth Science at the University of Southampton and their students will benefit from access to valuable resources, networking opportunities, and industry insights.
“At University of Southampton we have a long track record of training graduates who go into careers in hydrographic surveying and marine geoscience. It’s great to partner with the Hydrographic Society, particularly as we launch our new MSc in Geophysics.” said Tim Henstock, Professor of Geophysics at University of Southampton
