Senior Surveyor

Who are we?

First Marine Solutions (FMS) are a service provider to the local and international renewables and oil & gas sectors specialising in the engineering, design, procurement, installation, and maintenance of mooring systems for floating platforms. FMS also specialise in the planning and undertaking of marine activities related to floating platforms such as towage, vessel loadouts, marine assurance, and assisting with location planning and consent.

The Role:

Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced Surveyor to join our team on a full-time permanent basis.

As a Snr Surveyor, you will be responsible for survey and positioning activities, including acquisition and quality control of data onboard Mobile offshore drilling units, Anchor handling Vessels and survey and construction support vessels.

As a Snr Surveyor, you will be able to confidently take responsibility for the setup, testing, calibration and operation of a variety of survey and positioning systems.

The Department:

The Survey & Positioning department provides a bespoke service to our clients. Utilising the very best equipment the industry has to offer to provide faster access to data – safely, efficiently and on time. Some of the core services offered are; Vessel positioning, Remote operation support, Mooring prelay installation, Construction support, Geophysical survey, Laser scanning and Dimensional control and ROV inspection.

As an industry striving to reduce carbon footprint and minimise the number of personnel offshore, FMS Survey have heavily invested in Autonomous, Robotics and Remote solutions.

Your Day:

• ​Operate online survey software and monitor the data quality to ensure the survey specification is achieved.
• Prepare reports including mobilisation and calibration reports.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate vessel survey folders, comprehensive handover notes and surveying logs during any watch periods.
• Maintain effective communication with the offshore team.
• Ensure integrity and functionality of survey spread is maintained throughout the project.
• Maintain and develop experience with processing software and techniques and develop skills across various offshore disciplines.

The Specifics…. (Essential)

• Minimum of 2-5 years ‘hands-on’ experience in a survey orientated electronic or ICT role
• Proficient with DGPS systems, survey software, multibeam, USBL
• Experience in fault finding and reporting.
• Must have a full UK driving license.
• Holds relevant offshore certification.
• Confident in the undertaking of survey calibrations
• Extensive technical understanding and knowledge of the main survey equipment used in offshore survey sector.
• Sound understanding of the principles of real-time positioning, data acquisition and data QC.
• Strong IT skills and good understanding of PC hardware.
• Proficient in the use of CAD
• Experience of working in field and offshore as a Surveyor
