Technical Apprentice studying Level 3 Engineering Technician (Mechatronics)

EEL hires electrical and mechanical engineering apprentices.

Apprentices learn how to operate, repair and service our geotechnical and geophysical marine site investigation equipment.

Our equipment is hired out to clients all over the world. At the end of their training successful apprentices have the opportunity to become a permanent member of our team. They join our field crew, who travel regularly operating and maintaining our equipment.

Apprentices are based at our warehouse in Beccles, with one day a week at college. We are a small team, so it is essential that you have an adaptable personality and are hardworking and keen to learn.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assisting with project preparations
  • Maintaining and operating equipment
  • PAT testing
  • Safety checks and maintenance
  • Assisting with loading and unloading – getting a forklift licence
  • Assisting around the warehouse
  • Opportunities for short field work trips, and longer trips outside of term time
  • Maintaining equipment and fault finding
  • Welding

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Engineering technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • Functional skills if required

Training takes place at Norwich City College.

1 day per week day release.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, progression to a position of field technician will be offered depending on experience
