Job Description

Due to our continued growth and expansion within the Geophysical markets, we have staff opportunities for Offshore Geophysicists based in globally. Prior offshore experience gained within the European waters is advantageous.

The Geophysicists will be responsible for the onboard processing, QC and management of all relevant acquired data including but not limited to geophysical data, as well as the production of associated documents and charts.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the care and safety of company and client equipment and vessels
  • Acquisition, quality checking, processing, monitoring and interpretation of geophysical survey data from a wide variety of systems including sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer, side scan sonar and multibeam bathymetry echosounder systems
  • Assisting with report writing
  • Assisting with survey planning, vessel mobilisations and project management where required
  • Calibrate and maintain survey equipment
  • Technical report writing & charting
  • Implementing data management procedures and maintain the processing system
  • Production and checking of final deliverables
  • Assisting with the development of new procedures for tasks including survey operations, data processing and data management
  • Research new technologies & techniques.

Skills

  • The ability to plan and write survey reports and to quality control all survey data outputs
  • Demonstrate an understanding of survey principles and how they are used for planning surveys
  • Good understanding of geodesy and the importance of sound velocity data to positioning and geophysical systems
  • Good understanding and use data processing methods and the importance of data management
  • CAD skills for survey and charting

Qualifications / Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Geophysicist in the Offshore Survey field
  • Educated to a degree level in an appropriate Geophysical/Survey related discipline or equivalent technical/military experience and qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of survey IT and networking
  • Must be able to obtain a valid passport and/or visas to travel internationally in countries the company operates in
