Job Description

We are seeking nominations for the position of Honorary Treasurer for the upcoming term. The Treasurer plays an important part on the Board, taking an oversight role on financial tasks, monitoring and reporting. The role is fully supported by the Secretariat who manages the day-to-day finance tasks. Eric Langlois has maintained his role as Vice-Hon Treasurer in order to provide consistency and a handover of information to the new Treasurer. Below is the simple process and information about the key responsibilities and role of the Honorary Treasurer.

i)                    Please include a short statement that you understand the role requirements (below) and the fact it is a 1-year commitment (renewable).

ii)                   Applications will be reviewed by the BoD and the successful candidate will be confirmed ahead of the AGM, 29 November 2024

Time commitment:

The Honorary Treasurer role is designed as a low- activity role that does not require specific financial skills. An accounting firm is mandated to approve the IFHS financial statements on a yearly basis.
Most of the activity requires punctual actions to monitor/track/acknowledge the IFHS financial events throughout the year, concluded by the drafting and submission of the End Of Year Financial Statement to the IFHS AGM.

Ongoing tasks

With the full support of the Secretariat:

    • As authorised signatory on current IFHS Bank accounts, undertake minimal bank payments as/when Eric or the Secretariat are unable.
    • Oversee budgeted ‘expected’ income and spend versus ‘actual’ for IFHS and HPAS activities.
    • Oversee ongoing maintenance of adequate financial records, and support development of any internal controls.
    • Collaborate with the Secretariat, Accountants and the Board to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Annual tasks

With the full support of the Secretariat and the BoD:

    • To contribute to the delivery of the Annual Trustee Report and financial information to the IFHS accountant, Simpkins Edwards, 
    • Monitor the preparation, submission and approval process of the IFHS End of Year (EoY) financial statements.
    • To present a true and fair view of the organisation’s financial health to the Charity Commission and Companies House by the relevant deadlines.

Notes on Secretariat responsibilities which supports the Treasurer role

– Supporting the Treasurer in any/all finance tasks

– Process bank transfer/payments

– Issue invoice when appropriate

– Collates finance data to Accountants for EoY statements
– Drafts Trustee report
– Actions end of year web filing with CC and CH
– Drafts Board finance reports ahead of the AGM
