If you offer the ability to build strong business relationships and are looking to develop yourself further, this is a career defining opportunity to join a modern, progressive, world-leading organisation, and play a key role building and maintaining data partnerships and relationships which are essential to supporting safe, secure and thriving oceans.
About the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO)
The UKHO is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We work with a wide range of data partners to chart the world’s oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and geospatial data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations.
Closing date: Sunday 12th February 2023.
UKHO embraces diversity and promotes inclusion and equality of opportunity. We are a Disability Confident employer, which includes offering a guaranteed interview to candidates with disabilities, providing they meet the minimum selection criteria.
Selection for appointment to the Civil Service is on merit, on the basis of fair and open competition, as outlined in the Civil Service Commission’s Recruitment Principles.
You will be part of the UKHO Global Partnering and Engagement team, which maintains data supply to enable the UKHO’s global portfolio of products and services to develop and grow. The team achieve this through maintaining relationships and formalised arrangements with external organisations such as ports and foreign government hydrographic offices.
You will be responsible for developing and building business arrangements with a wide range of data partners across the Europe and Mediterranean area, ensuring that the UKHO has access to the data and products required to meet the organisation’s objectives.
You will negotiate, establish and foster new and existing data supply arrangements with partner hydrographic authorities and all other data providers in the Europe and Mediterranean region and will act as the UKHO regional expert, providing advice to data partners and UKHO colleagues at all levels.
This role is being offered as a development role. As such, a programme of training and mentorship will be offered and tailored to meet your needs.
You will need the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders to discern and determine political and commercial objectives and will need to demonstrate necessary influencing skills, diplomacy and credibility to be the UKHO’s advocate for the European and Mediterranean region.
An evidenced technical understanding of geospatial data and experience of working in the geospatial industry is equally important.
UKHO is a great place in which to explore your career potential. While our projects are career-defining, the work/life balance that we can offer you is equally exceptional. From flexitime, flexible working, an award-winning office environment and a generous annual leave allowance of 34.5 days including public holidays, the opportunities open to you here are hard to beat.
