Today, Crown Estate Scotland announced details of the 13 projects that have been selected in the first INTOG (Innovation and Targeted Oil & Gas) leasing round that will enable offshore wind energy to directly supply offshore oil and gas platforms.  INTOG leasing aims to attract investment in innovative offshore wind projects in Scottish waters, as well as helping decarbonise North Sea operations.

 

Crown Estate Scotland is a public body that manages the country’s seabed and coastline.  In the INTOG leasing round developers could apply for seabed rights to build two types of offshore wind project

  • IN – small scale, innovative projects, of less than 100MW
  • TOG – projects connected directly to oil and gas infrastructure, to provide electricity and reduce carbon emissions associated with production.
