SUMMARY:Hydro 2023
DESCRIPTION:The 2023 IFHS hydrographic conference will take place 7 – 9 November 2023 at the Geonoa’s Conference Centre in Porto Antico di Genova\, Itlay. \n  \n\n\n\n\nBeyond hydrography: unlocking investments in the blue economy\n  \nThe International Hydrographic Organization’s publication S-32\, The Hydrographic Dictionary\, defines the safety of navigation as the primary purpose of hydrography. However\, marine challenges on a global scale require a holistic approach that addresses all purposes\, with a focus on data availability and hydrospatial data infrastructures as core business.\n\nHydro 23 (Genoa\, 7th-9th November 2023) will bring attention to the need for hydrography in all marine activities\, with a focus on marine data-driven management and decision-making.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Conference will cover four main areas:\n> Coastal resilience \n> Sustainable underwater infrastructures \n> Blue transition \n> Ocean exploration \n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\nTo find out more about the programme and how to attend the conference please visit www.hydro2023.com\n\n

SUMMARY:THS:UKI South West Branch November Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Come join us at the Roundabout Pub in Plymouth for the second meeting of the season! \nDate: Thursday 9th November \nTime: From 1900 to late \nLocation: The Roundabout (Pub)\, 2-4 Drake Circus\, Plymouth PL4 8AQ \nWhere: 1st floor \nThis month Laurence Dyke from the UKHO will be talking about new bathymetry collected from the Irish Sea; describing the interesting glaciological features found within\, and expanding on what that means for our understanding of how glaciers work. This work is absolutely crucial to understanding how glaciers and ice sheets will behave in the coming years\, decades\, and centuries. \nThe Civil Hydrography Programme (CHP) is a long-running data collection programme undertaking systematic surveys of the UK’s coastal waters. By collecting high quality data\, the information can be used for much more than SOLAS. Part of a series of data sets collected in the Irish Sea\, off North Wales under the Hydrographic Instruction 1706 (HI1706)\, has produced a fantastic insight into the geological past of the UK.
